After a few days of all the adrenaline and intensity of the 2022 World Championship, the World Youth Combat Champion up to 70 kg, Noah Careford, to tell us about his experience in Amsterdam.

“My experience at this World Cup was truly unforgettable, many memories are made in those 3 days. Right from the opening ceremony which was fantastic and really established a community atmosphere in the arena. The competition makes us nervous at times but the development and the competition management gave us confidence and security, it was a really special moment for everyone.”

Like everyone who experienced this ITF World Championship in the Netherlands, Noah highlights the high level of the competition. “Each nation brought their strongest competitors and that made it as much a learning experience as it was a competition… half the skill of the WC is adapting to styles you may not see in your own country. No fight was easy and everyone those who competed should be proud to have stood up to such tough competition. It truly was a magical experience for anyone who loves Taekwondo.”

He also highlighted the Youth Combat Champion, the climate that was experienced in these three days of competition in Amsterdam, among the different delegations. “Even after a heated competition, which drew a large turnout from a rowdy crowd with supporters from two countries cheering on their respective competitors, Taekwondo principles were present, all competitors from each nation ended up congratulating each other and showing humility in victory or defeat.” “Everyone I spoke to was the embodiment of Taekwondo, sharing that love and passion”

“The essence of the community was not only felt among my team but also that of all the countries spreading love to everyone, a truly unforgettable and unique experience.”

Noah Careford highlights the great influence and support of his coach “who has supported me from the beginning and is someone to whom I owe a lot” and of course also to his parents and lifelong companions … all people. “

“I’m in disbelief and shocked at my achievement finally becoming a reality,” Noah says, almost a week after his gold medal. All that emotion was not unleashed in crazy celebrations for the great title obtained. On the contrary, the new Champion is “excited to return to training and to see family and friends alike to share my experience and have a good time with all of them,” while now enjoying “a rest time and some food, after months of dedication and training.”
