Iris Galinski is 56 years old and will be Coach of the German team in this World Cup. She says that her arrival in Taekwon-do was to fulfill the request of her daughter, who, when she started at the age of five, begged her to participate too.

“When my daughter was little and started doing Taekwon-do at the age of 5, her biggest wish was for me to join, so I did, and she promised to support me every day. She currently lives in Ireland and represents that country and, of course, he will participate in the World Championships in Amsterdam.”

“When I was growing up, girls were not allowed to practice martial arts, but when I saw that my daughter loved it and enjoyed it, I decided to practice it myself. We support each other as a family every day, no matter where we are or where we live. “

“Since 2013 I have been part of the German ITF, which over the years has built a great team of people, including my husband Gerard. During my Taekwon-do journey I had the pleasure of meeting and training with quite a few instructors. I learned a lot and I hope I can pass all the knowledge on to my students. Without friends from all over the world who helped us build such a great organization, we would not be where we are now.”

Iris Galinsky started her process towards this World Cup as a competitor and coach in parallel but “due to a current injury, I decided to take care of the competitors in my coaching role.”

Like everyone we interviewed, she highlights the importance of this reunion after such a long time, “I hope that each person gains a lot of experience and has fun in the competition, as it is a great event to meet old friends and make new ones.”
