Gastón Oriente is 34 years old, and with great pride he stands out in this ITF World Championships 2022 in the Netherlands, he will be Captain of the Argentine Taewkon-do Team for the second time in a row. This will be his eighth World Cup, with participation in Canada 2012, Italy 2014, England 2016 and Argentina 2018, as a member of the Adult Team.

For the Captain, this World Cup has a special flavor since “it is my last World Cup as an Adult and I want to enjoy it to the fullest.” For this, he prepared himself “physically and mentally very well, since before the First Selection that took place in December 2021. From that moment on, we began to train almost every day, physically and Taekwon-Do.”

Gastón Oriente began practicing Taekown-do from the age of 7 as an extra-curricular activity at school. Today, almost 30 years later, as V Dan, he will compete in Lucha y Forma. “My specialty is wrestling but in this case I also classified in Form V dan.”

Asked about how daily life changes as such an important competition approaches, Oriente tells us that “life changes a lot since we take advantage of almost every schedule to train or rest. In our case, we train with the national team on weekends, so we are training every day.”

The Netherlands will be the first World Cup in which Gastón Oriente will take “a student, Valentín Herrera, in the Pre Youth category up to 50 kg”. Another great reason to repeat his illusion of playing a great role and enjoying this ITF World Championships 2022 to the fullest.
