The President of the ITF Federation of Spain tells us how the Taekwon-do of that country is preparing for the very close World Cup.

“We are doing a very adequate preparation for this event. Our delegation is very committed and we have even gotten some sponsors to join us on this occasion. I am convinced that it will be a very good World Cup for Spain, but mainly because the process to get there is already very positive.”

Which representatives of your country do you see with the greatest possibilities?
In singles there are several with possibilities, it would not be fair to give only one or two names, because I really see many doing a good job and with the possibility of having a great World Cup. But in particular, let’s say that the women’s team has worked very closely from the beginning and this whole process makes me see them with many chances.

The Master Pérez Martínez also highlights the historic coach of the Spanish team and those who accompany him. “Our coach for many years has been Master Mariano Molina, but this year Master Carlos Bazán has joined in a very enriching way. These two will be the official coaches of Spain. Then, as auxiliary coaches, Gastón la Torre and Ramón Espinoza will go.”

Finally, he explains the development of Taekwon-do in Spain in recent times.
“Our Federation is growing, the pandemic was hard but we have done a job, although complicated, very good in those times and now the fruits are being reaped. In the same way, the fact that Maestro Bazán’s school is joining the ITF of Spain is very positive for the present and for the future. Our national events are highly requested by other organizations in Europe and this means that our growth continues to be very positive and hopeful for the coming years.”

Master Fernando Pérez Martínez has been President of the ITF Federation of Spain for 17 years, a position he assumed in 2005. He also has a very long experience as an Instructor, more than 35 years teaching ITF Taekwon-do in Spain and also in Argentina.
