The competition was announced by the Minister of Tourism and Sports Mario Peña at the press conference held at the Government House to present the taekwondo delegation that will represent Salta and the country in the world championship of the discipline.
Taekwondo athletes from Salta who will make up the Argentine delegation that will participate in the world championship of the discipline to be held on July 26 in the Netherlands held a press conference at the Government House together with Lieutenant Governor Antonio Marocco, the Minister of Tourism and Sports Mario Peña and the Undersecretary of Sports Romina Arroyo.
Gustavo Portella, president of the Salta Taekwondo Association and international referee appointed for the World Cup, thanked the support provided by the provincial government and stressed that this decision represents a central element to continue promoting the growth of martial arts.
Within this framework, Minister Peña announced that the province will host the ITF South American Taekwondo Championship to be held next November at the Delmi Stadium facilities.
“It is the decision of Governor Gustavo Sáenz and the entire government team to continue accompanying the different disciplines because that is the way for sport in Salta to continue to grow,” said Minister Peña.
For his part, Lieutenant Governor Antonio Marocco valued the social task that the leaders carry out through sport. “Always count on this government that believes in sport as a tool for training and social integration,” he concluded.
Regarding the expected projections before the South American tournament, it was learned that the event will bring together more than 1,000 participants from Bolivia, Paraguay, Uruguay, Argentina and Chile, among others.
