Representing Chile at the ITF Taekwon-Do World Championship in Barcelona 2025 is both an honour and a great responsibility for Francisca Fernández. She sees this event not only as a moment of personal and professional fulfilment but also as a reflection of the dedication and perseverance of her entire team.

“It is the opportunity to demonstrate years of hard work, sacrifice, and effort — not just mine, but also of those who support me.”

One of her greatest challenges along the way has been managing daily routines while overcoming minor injuries, a common but demanding part of preparing for elite competition.

For the upcoming World Championship, Fernández’s strategy is to make the most of every tool at her disposal. Her plan includes entering the tatami with full focus and determination, while maintaining her physical condition through disciplined recovery, hydration, and nutrition.

“Mental preparation is key. You must have focus and the right attitude to face every obstacle.”

Fernández believes that in high-level competition, success is determined by more than just technical skill — it is the ability to stay calm and concentrated that truly separates good performances from gold-medal victories.

If given the chance, she would be interested in an exhibition match against a competitor from Argentina. Not driven by rivalry, but by the opportunity to measure her level and continue learning from different styles.

When asked what this World Championship represents for her, she responded without hesitation: “Opportunity and future.”

Beyond the competition itself, Francisca looks forward to connecting with athletes from around the globe, sharing in cultural exchange, and experiencing the vibrant history and spirit of Barcelona.
