The National Tournament took place in Chile, an event that stood out for its impeccable organization and the enthusiastic participation of competitors from across the country. In an exclusive interview with Master Francisco Fernandez, president of the ITF Federation of Chile, we obtained valuable information about this memorable tournament.
The organization of the event was a challenge that the ITF Federation of Chile faced with determination and teamwork. Despite some last-minute hiccups, the commitment and dedication of the organizing team ensured the success of the tournament. In particular, the tidiness of the event, the excellent performance of the judges and referees, and the exemplary behavior of the competitors were highlights of the day.
As for the competition itself, the tournament featured a variety of categories, including sparring, individual patterns, and team patterns in the Gups category, a recent addition that has been well received by the community. Competitors demonstrated a high level of skill and commitment, resulting in a well-organized and high-level tournament.

Participating schools also played a crucial role in the success of the event. Notable names such as Catalina Díaz, Rayen Tapia, and Francisca Fernandez shone in their respective categories, representing schools from across the country. The participation of delegations from Argentina also enriched the competition, adding an international element that further elevated the level of the tournament.
The following day, it was time to witness the Master Class led by Grand Master Nestor Galarraga. With a focus on topics such as biomechanics of movements, patterns, and sparring techniques, the class was enthusiastically received by participants, who valued the opportunity to learn from a master of such high caliber. The presence and active participation of the Grand Master during the class were especially appreciated, creating a warm and enriching atmosphere for all involved.
Looking to the future, the ITF Federation of Chile has big plans on the horizon. With a focus on restructuring and seeking new challenges, the Federation is preparing to represent the country in international events such as the Pan American Championship in Venezuela and the upcoming World Championship. Emphasis will be placed on technical training and sports competition to consolidate the Federation’s position as a national reference in ITF Taekwon-Do.
