On February 4, 2023, the city-hero city of Volgograd hosted the Open Cup of the city in taekwon-do ITF “BATTLE OF STALINGRAD”. The organizers of the event were: the Committee for Physical Culture and Sports of the Administration of the City of Volgograd (Chairman of the Committee – Sergey Kurenkov), the Regional Public and Sports Organization “Taekwon-Do Federation of the ITF of the Volgograd Region ” and the Public Organization “Volgograd City Taekwon-Do Federation of the ITF” (President – Vanyushkin Sergey).
The event was attended by 108 athletes aged 5 to 18 years. The competition program included three ITF taekwon-do disciplines: personal sparring, personal tul, team sparring. After a hard day of competition, the top three winners in the team standings were: the first team place was won by the team of the Volgograd City Federation of Taekwon-do ITF. Pupils of the sports club “Medved” deserved the second team place. The third team place, following the results of the day of performances, was awarded to the athletes of the Helios club.
On this day, the winners in individual programs were: Igor Kondakov, Yana Lapikova, Timur Ibodullaev, Vlad Goncharova, Viktor Strizhakov, Maria Khomutnikova, Damir Mukhin, Konstantin Kuznetsov, Mikhail Strizhakov, Evelina Azhibaeva, Gleb Piletsky, Victoria Chuprikova, (coaches Vanyushkin Sergey, Zebolov Gennady, Umanets Victor, Konovalov Alexey).
In team competitions in sparring in subgroups of 9-10 years old, the winners were the joint team of C/c “Helios” and C/c “Bear”. In the subgroup of 11-13 years old, the team of C/c “Helios” won. In juniors aged 14-17, the winner’s cup was confidently won by the sportsmen of the C/c “Rodina”.
The prize for the best ITF taekwon-do technique was awarded to Igor Kondakov for the victory in the largest category – 36 athletes of the ITF Taekwon-do Federation and other clubs were defeated by him in the basic technique – tul program.
Within the framework of the tournament, a sparring partner was held in the PRO-Taekwondo system between representatives of the GTF and ITF Federations. In a stubborn 5-round fight, the sportsman of the C/C “Helios” Nikulin Zakhar (coach Bakhromov Shakhob) won.
