“My feeling after the World Championship is very good. I was able to achieve my goal and I won the gold together with my daughter! That’s something special…mother and daughter started the Worlds and we both got the gold. That makes me very proud! ” tells Sarah Herzog who took the gold in Adult Lightweight Combat.
When Sarah won the final, she was very happy, “it was a great effort… with three boys, I had to lose a lot of weight but it was worth it” said Sarah exultantly after the competition, not knowing that the next day she would be even bigger, when her daughter Zoellick repeated the family history and became World Youth Combat Champion, at the same weight as her mother.
Sarah Herzog admits that they couldn’t celebrate as much as they wanted in Amsterdam, after the family’s gold. “We just celebrated a bit, the days were really exhausting and we were all pretty tired.”
“Now we need a few days to process everything and calm down inside. You are already under a lot of stress. But, it was all worth it, “I am very happy!”
Regarding this World Cup in the Netherlands, the World Lightweight Adult Combat Champion assures that “for me it was a great experience. The organization was very good, there are some improvements, but only small things… I was impressed by the number of great athletes who participated .There were a number of fighters who were really unbelievably good. Most of all I was impressed by the fair behavior between each other, you don’t experience that everywhere, very nice!”
