“I’ve been training in Taekwon-do since the age of 6. My dad took me and my brother in as something for us to do together to keep fit and that’s how I started.” Who tells us this is Imogen Allen, 3rd degree, who at 21 will represent the United Kingdom for the third time in an ITF world championship and is the current ITF European champion in combat.

At this world championship she will compete in both forms and sparring, as well as enjoying “the opportunity to be part of the team of adult ladies representing the United Kingdom.”

The representative of the United Kingdom has had to prepare for the competition balancing training with her work and university obligations. Far from seeing this as a burden, the joy of returning to training after the confinement caused by Covid-19 stands out,

“Preparing for this world championship has been particularly difficult training as much as possible around work and university commitments. However, it has been gratifying to return to a tough training routine after the lockdown.”

“My goal for this world championship is to enjoy the experience and give everything in the competition.”
