There are barely 8 days left until the 2022 ITF World Championships in the Netherlands begin, which will mark the reunion in a World Cup after the problems caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, which still persists and threatens in some places.

In this tour that we have been doing through different representatives who will be in Amsterdam, it is now the turn of Christophe Schumacher, I Dan, from Belgium. He participated in more than 40 patterns and Sparring tournaments, (3 silver medals in the World Student Championships in Combat, Forms and Team Combat). “Now the Amsterdam WC will show me if I am good enough to compete with the best.”

“I was very good at combat and the patterns of colored belts” although he acknowledges that this World Cup is a new challenge, for which he has been preparing for some time but without surprises. “Actually, not much changes for me. I have no problems reaching my weight and I always pay attention to what I do and what I eat. Nervousness and excitement before a competition are present in my day-to-day, which is always they are very big.”

He started Taekwon-do a little over 6 years ago when he was 18 years old, in Brussels (Belgium). “My best friend and coach opened a new club and asked me to try it out. I immediately fell in love with the sport.”

“My goal for this World Cup is obviously to win a medal, but the most important thing is to connect with people from all over the world and grow the international Taekwon-do community.”
