After World War II, population growth forced the Netherlands to plan a city where only water existed. This is Almere, which will host the ITF World Championships 2022.
Separated from Amsterdam by the waters of the Markemeer, the first housing in this city was created in 1976 and in 1984 it officially became a municipality.

It is the newest city in the Netherlands, based on land reclaimed from the sea and thanks to its constant growth, today it is considered the eighth city in the country.
Forests, beaches, hot springs and even a nature reserve blend together in this colorful city, one of the few urban centers in the Netherlands that still preserves large open spaces.
The color of the city is not only due to its daring constructions. Almere is made up of people from a wide range of cultures, ethnicities and religious backgrounds. It is home to 192 nationalities. A city in constant evolution, a perfect place to host the ITF World Championships.
